The Painted Hills. The first time I visited this area, I knew I wanted to use this as a location. From what I have learned, these hills are volcanic ash layers that were part of a lake bed. They look like velvet from a distance and the colors change throughout the day.
Campsite #4. As we found it, on a rainy spring day. Big thunderstorms were moving through the lower Cascades. We looked at many locations, when I saw this, I knew I could make it work for the film. We spent the night here during production, great spot.
Ochoco National Forest.
Ponderosa pines and cool grass covered hills. I guess a fire went through this area, west of Prineville and east of the Painted Hills. If you look closely during this scene, you can see trees marked for cutting with spray paint. This forest has a very nice feel to it and it smells good too.
Pam did a great job with set, costume, prop design, and construction. Shown here is the ever growing pile of stuff needed for the film. A lot of personal items went into this scene. It's fun to see things from around the house, memories, in the film.
Every Hero has his/her special weapon, talent, or gizmo. Hero did her shopping at ACME, the legendary supply house with over 4 million specialty items available. After a little discussion on function and looks, again, Pam did a great job bringing the ACME kit to life.
Everything you need for one smore, just add fire.
Hero's Rig
The Car. Bill and Abbe Baze drove in their "Pink '57" Nash for the film. We can't say thank you enough for your donation of your time and your car. So, thanks again!
